Purpose
The Regional In-depth Genealogical Studies Alliance (RIGS Alliance) is a partnership which has been formed to direct week-long interactive learning sessions and hands-on research focusing on original documents and manuscripts at regional archives. The workshops will provide opportunities for researchers to gain knowledge and skills related to access, evaluation, and the use of a wider variety of records.

Fort Worth Workshop 2008 Announcement

Due to a temporary relocation of the National Archives Southwest Region, the directors of RIGS Alliance in consultation with the Regional Archives have decided to cancel the October 2008 workshop scheduled for Fort Worth, Texas The plan to relocate the Ft. Worth regional facility began with the removal of the Federal Records Center to a new facility in 2007, however the location for the Archives has not yet been determined. RIGSA students and instructors depend heavily on access to the textual records and finding aids of the National Archives Regional Facilities during the week-long workshop. The next workshop is scheduled for 5–9 October 2009 to be held at the Southeast Regional Facility in Morrow, Georgia.
